We are a Perth, Australia based dive light company.  We manufacture recreational, video and technical diving lights as well as products that relate to dive lights such as mounts and fittings.   Everyone in the business is a diver and our interests spam everything from recreational diving to photography and technical diving.  We design all the products in house.  For small scale production and 3D printed products we manufacture in house and for larger scale production we outsource the manufacturing. 

 

The Team

Nik Johnson - Born and raised in NZ, Nik always loved the water and when the opportunity to learn to dive while he was at school turned up, he jumped at the opportunity. He has been diving ever since. He has dived around NZ and Australia, but also Asia, The Middle East, Central and South America. His background is in technology and IT, however, on seeing the development of LEDs and lithium batteries, he saw a gap in the market for dive lights that were designed by divers to meet the unique requirements of underwater use.  After a long search over many trips to China he found a group of suppliers he was excited to work with and began the journey of designing and manufacturing both dive and video lights. This is how Dive Lantern was born. 

Seb Roocke - Seb is a Western Australian local, growing up in the South West, surrounded by the water, as well as his dad, who is an engineer. Building and designing has been a core part of Seb's life, leading him to study Mechanical Engineering at University. He started scuba diving on his gap year in Indonesia and continued diving actively all over Western Australia, leading him to take up some Technical and Cave diving as well. Seb is the guy behind the computer screen, carefully drawing up all details on our torches, and keeping all machines around the office running smoothly. 

Sylvia Jenkins -Originally from London, UK, Sylvia is a keen swimmer and learnt to dive in her early teens. After completing a Geography degree, she set off to explore the world, living and working across Canada, Australia, and Southeast Asia as an underwater photographer, divemaster, and instructor. Today, she channels that same creative energy into Dive Lantern as our graphic designer. She’s the eye behind our brochures, packaging, stickers, and online visuals - helping bring our Dive Lantern’s brand to life both in-store and online.

Abi Harwood - Growing up on the South coast of the UK, Abi fell in love with diving when she learnt at age 11. She loves diving in tropical locations, but also enjoyed the cold waters in the UK. After a gap year taking her diving around the Mediterranean and Asia, she followed her passion to become a Diving Instructor and moved to Western Australia to study Marine Science at University. Instructing has taken her around Australia, as well as the Asia and the Caribbean. She loves Wreck and Cave diving, and generally claims the muddier the better when it comes to dives! Abi runs our social media accounts and is also often in water, testing out our torches and video lights in a variety of diving conditions.
